Since its establishment in 2010, the Hong Kong Wine Merchants Chamber of Commerce have created a new force in the wine industry.
In 2008 the government abolished duty on imported wines, which had completely changed the wine scene locally; the number of people entering the industry has multiplied tremendously, and related businesses have also developed and grown. This created numerous opportunities for the commerce and job sectors. Furthermore, the tax free situation turns Hong Kong into a free port to create advantageous business opportunities for the locals, especially in terms of being a wine centre for China and other Asian countries.
Faced with rapid changes of global context, the greatest ideal of the Chamber is to unite all stakeholders of the industry, strengthening Hong Kong's leading position in the wine business, thereby making contribution to the industry and Hong Kong as a whole.
