The HK Wine & Spirits Industry Coalition
Profile
Founded in 2002, HKWSIC is a sub-committee of FDGA comprising all key companies engaged in the importing or selling of wine and spirits in Hong Kong. The coalition represents over 80 leading brands of wine and spirits in Hong Kong.
The coalition is first formed as a group to lobby the government on industry related issues such as alcohol duties, matters relating to custom and excise as well as waste management or recycling. The coalition has also worked with the government to develop Hong Kong into a fine wine hub and tackle issues on intellectual property rights.
The coalition has started working on a code of conduct for the industry in Hong Kong as part of their self regulation and it also recognizes the importance of educating the consumer on responsible consumption of alcohol. The coalition shall co-ordinate with interested parties to promote responsible drinking.
