Background
San Miguel is Southeast Asia’s First and Largest Brewer. San Miguel was first established in 1890 as La Fabrica de Cerveza de San Miguel, and it started exporting to Hong Kong in 1914. In 1948, it established its first brewery in Sham Tseng, Hong Kong. In 1963, the company went public through The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (HKEx Code: 236). It inaugurated a new brewery in Yuen Long in 1996. Today, San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Limited (“SMBHK”) is the only international beer company having a large scale brewery in Hong Kong. San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Limited has a subsidiary in mainland China namely San Miguel (Guangdong) Brewery Company Limited.
